Angiometrx Inc. (www.angiometrx.com) became a division of Medical Ventures Corp in May 2003. Angiometrx develops innovative catheter products for the improved treatment of vascular disease. It's primary product is the the Metricath™ System, an innovative catheter-based technology that allows cardiologists to measure arterial size and wall characteristics during interventional treatment of coronary and peripheral artery disease. The Metricath System was developed in response to the limitations of existing measurement technologies, which are either not sufficiently accurate or prohibitively expensive and time-consuming to gain widespread acceptance. The company has developed a next-generation Metricath catheter, which includes both a measurement balloon and a high pressure dilatation (treatment) balloon. The next-generation Metricath catheter, the Metricath™ Gemini, allows the physician to both measure and treat diseased sections of artery using a single, cost-effective catheter.
